Streaming audio advice sought

topic posted Sun, December 19, 2004 - 2:51 PM by  diana
I'm updating my website and have two queries:

1) How do I create an audio stream that automatically runs on my front page and stops when users clicks their next page?

2) How do I create audio streams that can be activated by users from an HTML page with an interface that allows them to play, pause, rewind, etc.?

Any ideas or resources would be very appreciated. I've got some web development and audio skills, so I am looking to set this up myself.

Thanks!

I don't know the answer but a wonderful Swiss musician
helped me to stream the Y2K4 Live Looping festival this year
to the web and he seems really knowledgeable and very friendly and helpful.

His name if Bernhard Wagner and you can reach him at his website at www.nosuch.biz.

Tell him I sent you with your queery and best of luck.

What voice and electronics are you up to, by the way, these days?

I actually got info from the FAQ of my site hoster, Laughing Squid, to go directly to the websites for Real, Windows Media Player, and Quicktime to check out their products for creating files in their respective formats. Here's what I found, for anyone who's interested.

Quicktime got out of consideration early because they charge $30 for their product.

WMP has a free product that only works on XP and 2000. I run on ME and couldn't find their old ME product hard as I tried. Gave up.

Real has a free product called Real Producer www.realnetworks.com/product...sic.html to creative Real Audio tracks from your files. Easy and, did I mention, free.

And, since you asked, I'm working on some looping solo acapella. I'm really pleased with how well the creative side is going so I'm working on the new website and the demo. I'll let you know when I've got the new website and streams up.
